Valentine’s Day is a day of Love, people enjoy this lovely day with joy and lots of romance. This year Dance Maestro Sandip Soparrkar, decided to celebrate this day in very different way, he organized "Dance-Dream-Believe" a couple dance competition for participants across the country. This dance competition took place on the Valentine’s Day Evening at Phoenix Market City, Kurla and featured several couple dance performers, from age 17 to 70, youth to old, all came in stage to compete for the winners title. The contestants performed dances like Acrobatics, Bachata, Ballet, Indian Classical, Indian folk, Ballroom, Bollywood and a variety of other rhythmic dance forms.
The judging panel included veteran actress Varsha Usgaonkar, Gorgeous item girl Meghna Naidu, Actor Nakul Mehta, and Actress Aashima Sharma. At the end of each performance, the judges gave their views on the performance to the contestants. Meghna Naidu was seen shaking a leg on the number that made her a sensation “Kaliyo Ka Chaman Jab bantaa Hai”. She said, “I love to come for an event at Phoenix Market City, the energy here is unmatched and to top it all it is my dear friend Sandip's event, his shows always rock."
Chief guest for the evening was Bollywood Actress Shamita Shetty who looked smashing in a formal pink top matched with black sleek pants. She spoke about her love for dance and mesmerized the crowd by dancing to her ever green famous ‘Sharara’ number from ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai.’
Shamita said, “Dance for me is an expression of the soul. I’m honoured and excited to be part of Dance Dream Believe an extravaganza hosted by dear friend Sandip.”
Ace Choreographer Sandip Soparrkar too dazzled the audiences by performing on ‘Awara’ from the movie ‘Xpose’. Sandip said, “I organised this competition in association with Phoenix Market City, Kurla to show the people authentic and original dances, each contestant presented dances in its pure form and I believe that every dancer must do the same. Dance in its unadulterated form is the most beautiful and this platform was meant for just that."
The infectious vibes of the live dance show brought half of the crowd and the performers onto the stage, mid-performance, in a spontaneous breakout of free style dancing. Crowd of over 4000 people would not stop dancing, this was the hysteria Sandip Soparrkar caused.
Bharatnatyum dancers from Nalanda School bagged the winner’s trophy, followed by French style Ballet dancers from Bharucha School of Ballet, third position was taken by Acrobatic dancing couple and the most Inspirational couple title was taken away by Kamlesh Rajore and Sushma Nair; a couple in their 70's.
All the Winners were announced by the panel of judges and awarded with huge goodie bags and trophies by the guest of honour Shamita Shetty. This romantic dance evening came to an enthralling end when Shamita cut a heart shaped chocolate cake, which read 'Love you Shamita' she cut the cake in excitement and fed it to the judges and winners present there.
