Tamil superstar’s Vijay’s latest flick Theri has registered a record opening with the box office collections ranking third best after Rajinikanth’s “Enthiran” and “Lingaa” in the US.
With a collection of $251,123 in the premier shows, "Theri" made a great start at the worldwide box office. Released in over 1200 screens on its first day, Theri garnered Rs. 28.46 crore worldwide on its first day breaking the records of Vedalam - Rs. 22 crore, Kaththi - Rs. 26 crore and Puli - Rs. 19.55 crore.
The movie earned Rs 13.1 crore in Tamil Nadu, ranking second in the biggest opener in the state after Vedalam that raked in Rs 15.1 crore on the release day. In the US, Theri has reached the $500K-mark with the Wednesday premiere shows and regular Thursday shows minting over $389,000 while the collections on Friday came to $127,770.
