Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming gangster drama ‘Kabali’, one of the most anticipated films of the year, will hit the marquee on July 1. “The film was earlier slated to release in June. It has been now pushed to July 1.

The makers had also planned to release on July 7 but have advanced the release to avoid a clash with Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’,” said a source from the film’s unit The source added the film’s audio will be unveiled on May 30 in both Tamil and Telugu.
Directed by Pa Ranjith, ‘Kabali’ is the story of the rise of a gangster from rags-to-riches. The makers are currently busy with the post-production work and dubbing. Taiwanese actor Winston Chao joined the team on Wednesday in Chennai to dub his lines.
Also starring Radhika Apte, Dinesh, Kalaiarasan, Dhansikaa and Ritwika, the film is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. Abhishek Pictures has acquired the Telugu rights for a fancy sum.
