Filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally, who was supposed to team up with actor Akhil Akkineni for his next, has exited the yet-untitled project. “Impressed by the way Vamshi handled ‘Oopiri’, Nagarjuna has handed over Akhil’s second film responsibility to the director.

Nag wanted him to work on the Telugu remake of 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani' since he felt it had the elements that he was looking for his son’s sophomore effort. However, the director wasn't too keen on the idea because he had recently worked on a remake," said a source.

Vamshi's ‘Oopiri’ was the official remake of French film ‘The Intouchables’. "Vamshi didn't want to work on another remake immediately as he was aware of being branded as a remake specialist. He was more interested to work on his own script which didn't go down well with both Nag and Akhil.

Since both parties failed to come to a common ground, Vamshi had no other option but to exit the project. However, he parted ways amicably," the source said. Vamshi remained unavailable for a comment.
