Anushka might team up with Chiru

If sources are to be believed, actress Anushka Shetty is all set to team up with Chiranjeevi in his highly anticipated 150th film, which will be the Telugu remake of Tamil film ‘Kaththi’. Tentatively titled 'Kathilantodu', the project will be directed by VV Vinayak.

“Anushka has already been approached and she has also given her verbal consent. However, she is yet to officially sign on the dotted line. Since she has two more Telugu projects in her kitty, she is figuring out dates to allocate,” a source from the film’s unit told.

While the pre-production work is already underway, the regular shooting will start from July. Although Anushka has grooved to a special number with Chiranjeevi in his 2006 Telugu film ‘Stalin’, this will be first time they will team up as the lead pair. In the film, Chiranjeevi will essay dual roles. The project will mark the debut of Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan as producer.

Jagapathi Babu to play a baddie…
Meanwhile Jagapathi Babu (JB), who has hardly put his foot wrong ever since he made an impactful return as baddie, has been approached for the role of an antagonist. After bagging versatile roles in plum projects that starred Balakrishna, Mahesh Babu and NTR, we hear, JB could play antagonist opposite Chiranjeevi.

Apparently, the actor was in prime contention for the role of a baddie in megastar’s landmark film. Sources say that director VV Vinayak approached Jagapathi Babu to step into the role essayed by Neil Nithin Mukesh in the original. The director was pleased after getting a favorable response from JB.

“Jagapathi Babu was the first choice for the role of antagonist. VV Vinayak recently approached and even got the consent of the actor. However, it was also heard that there’s another Bollywood actor being considered for the role,” the source adds.
