After receiving flak for it’s run time and being highly criticised for lack of pace, particularly in the second half, the filmmakers of Mahesh Babu-starrer ‘Brahmotsavam’ have gone into damage control mode already. In a bid to draw audiences to the theatres, the unit has chopped off many scenes after the film received criticism from the fans and critics alike.

Sources say that the family drama has been trimmed by 18 minutes from the original run-time of 156 minutes, after the audience complained about the film's excessive runtime. A source close to the unit confirmed the news saying, “Fans and the audience have been expressed concern over the runtime of the film and the makers have decided to cut down 18 minutes from the original version.”

It remains to be seen if the shorter runtime will help draw the crowd back to the theatres this summer season while for the fans, it might just have another reason to flock the theatres. However, this is not the first time movies are being trimmed. Earlier NTR-starrer ‘Ramayya Vastavayya’, ‘Life is Beautiful’, ‘Lingaa’, ‘Anjaan’, etc. , went under scissors after they failed to live up to the hype that is generated.
