While Telugu films releasing in other countries– in small proportions– on the day they release in South is a thing of the past, SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ is on its way to achieve a unique feat as far its international release is concerned. A hot property in the global film arena, the makers of the magnum opus are planning to release the second part on a massive note in other countries on the same day it releases in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, though dubbed (in respective countries languages).
One of the producers of the Telugu-Tamil bilingual, Shobu Yarlagadda, confirmed when Hans Talkies contacted him, “Yes, we are looking to release the film in other countries too on the same day it releases in India. However, it depends upon the distribution firms (of the other countries) but yes we definitely have a plan.”
60 percent of filming has been wrapped up. We will finish the film by October-end or by November and are targeting an April 2017 release
What are the probable nations that his team is looking at? “I’m not in a position to talk about it right now. May be after three-four months I can give you a clear picture,” he replied. For now, the producer is gung-ho about the Chinese release. According to reports, ‘Baahubali- The Beginning’, which minted more than Rs 700 crore, will be releasing in 5,000 screens across The Red Dragon this month-end.
Shobu points out, “We have sold off the Chinese distribution rights but are on board to associate in some capacity. ‘PK’ was the biggest release there and our screen count would be on par with that of Aamir-starrer.” Commenting on the progress of the second part, Shobu informed, “The new schedule has started on Saturday and the climax will be shot from June 13. 60 percent of filming has been wrapped up.
We will finish the film by October-end or by November and are targeting an April 2017 release.” When asked whether the second part is set on a bigger scale, he chuckled, “I don’t know whether it will be bigger but it’ll be better for sure.” Has his life changed after ‘Baahubali’? “Nothing much has changed. It’s just that I’m attending lots of calls,” he concluded with a smile.
