Actor-producer Aamir Khan on Monday said his friend Salman Khan's "raped woman" comment was unfortunate and insensitive. At the poster launch of ‘Dangal’ in Mumbai, Aamir was asked about his reaction to Salman's comment which stirred up a hornet's nest.

Aamir said, ""I feel.... I was not present there... (But) going by the media reports, what he has said is rather unfortunate or rather insensitive." Asked if he spoke to his ‘Andaaz Apna Apna’ co-actor or gave him any advice, Aamir said, "No I didn't speak to him... And who am I to give him advice."

Salman courted controversy after he said during a media interaction that he felt like a "raped woman" walking out of a ring in his role as a wrestler in his upcoming film ‘Sultan’.

His comment didn't go down too well with a lot of people. The National Commission for Women (NCW) and the Shiv Sena even demanded a public apology from Salman. He sent in a letter to NCW via his lawyer but the organisation said it was not an apology.

Now Salman has been summoned by the NCW on July 8. Aamir Khan wanted to do 'Dangal' when 60 Aamir Khan, who will be seen portraying the role of a 55-year-old man in ‘Dangal’, said he wanted to do this film only after he was 60.

Revealing the whole story behind doing ‘Dangal’, Aamir said, "When I read the story I just loved it. This story made me laugh, cry as the script was very exciting and inspirational.

"I wanted to do it but I was fickle-minded that I have just done 'Dhoom 3' and 'PK' and for this film Nitesh (Nitesh Tiwari, director of the film) wanted to show me as a 55-year-old man which is closer to my reality (laughs) so, honestly I had that fear.

"I had the fear that today when I am still doing young roles why am I getting into this old man's role...I had to gain weight and go for grey hair so I was scared about my future and audience," he said.

Aamir says that he wanted to do this film when he was aged 60 years. "I had this thing in my mind that I will do this film after five-six years when I will be 60. I was scared that if I play an old man's role now then tactically it won't be right... Then I called Nitesh (Tiwari) again and said I want to hear the story again. After that I decided to leave the logic behind and do the film," he said.

‘Dangal’ is an Indian biographical sports drama film directed by Tiwari, who previously directed ‘Chillar Party’ and ‘Bhootnath Returns’. The film sees Aamir portraying the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat. Geeta was India’s first female wrestler to win at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, where she clinched the gold medal while Babita won the silver.
