Actor Aditya Om, who failed to get the number of theatres that he desired for his Friday release ‘Friend Request’, which he also produced and directed, has staged a demonstration in front of Telugu Film Chamber, Hyderabad, on Friday. The film, according to the actor-filmmaker, was supposed to release in 30 theatres across Nizam but was exhibited only in one theatre in Hyderabad.

Aditya said, “The film is my two-and-a-half years hard work and I made it on a budget of Rs 4.5 crore. Social media friends were eagerly awaiting the release and when they found out that it didn’t make its way to their cinema halls nearby, I was taken aback. It was supposed to release in 150 theatres across both the Telugu-speaking states but was finally screened only in 30 theatres.

It has opened to good word of mouth at places where it opened. In Hyderabad, it is being shown in only one theatre. If this is the case, how can I get my returns? I want minimum number of theatres for my film and I will not stop agitating until the issue is addressed.” Film Chamber representatives K Ashok Kumar and KL Damodar Prasad met Aditya and said they will attend to the issue at the earliest.
