Bangalore: &TV’s talent-based dance reality show So You Think You Can Dance culminated this weekend amidst much fanfare and aplomb! From the array of extraordinary performances and mind-blowing acts, 17-year-old Alisha Behura from Bhillai emerged as Dance Star of the Indian edition of this globally popular format. Following is an excerpt from her interview:-

1. How does it feel after winning the first edition of SYTYCD?

It feels overwhelming. This has been the biggest achievement of my life. I am thankful to all the &TV audience who have trusted me with their votes, the judges and my parents for their tremendous support as without them all this accomplishment wouldn’t have been possible.

2. Do you feel as a dancer your horizons are wider than before?

Definitely, So You Think You Can Dance has helped me learn and unlearn various forms of dancing that has enabled me to show my talent and expertise to the world.
3. Were you confident that you would win the SYTYCD or it came to you as a surprise?

I have always come first in everything that I compete in. So when I got selected among the top 20, I had this dream to win the show. So I worked hard and did not rely on my confidence. And when hard work pays off, it certainly feels very nice. I thank god and my parents for what I have accomplished.

4. What are your future plans after winning the show?

My dream is to be a combo pack. I want to be an actress who can act and dance as well. I would love to act with Varun Dhawan. But to be honest, my journey has just begun and there is no looking back from hereon.

5. Will you miss SYTYCD?

Absolutely! Over time all of us have grown extremely close with not just the judges, the hosts and the contestants but also the crew from &TV and the production house. There was never a dull day on the set. I am taking back a bag full of memories of the show. From endless rehearsals to the masti on-screen and off it… everything will stay back with me for the rest of my life.

6. Who do you look upto among the panel of judges?

All the three of them. They have been extremely supportive and when all of us were under stress they would always standby us and share their valuable advice which would motivate us to one different level.

7. What will do with the prize money?

I am too young to spend money on big things. I will hand it over to my parents, and would wish to save it up for my future.

8. Who did you think your closest competition was?

Honestly, all three of them. The top 4 were all equally talented. But I am extremely elated that I am the chosen one.

9. You are a huge fan of Varun Dhawan. It must have been special with him being a part of the finale?

Yes, of course. I also got to dance with him, which for me now doesn’t seem to be an unrealistic dream.
