After tasting her success as an actor in Bollywood, Tara Sharma ventured into television show with a show on parenting which was a super success with three successful seasons.

In a Candid tete-a-tete with Rishika Pagadala, Tara Sharma talks about movies, parenting and more…

Q.From playing strong female centric roles in page 3 and Saaya to spreading awareness on good parenting…How has the journey been?

It’s all going very exciting, We are always learning new things every day and that’s what I would like to believe. I have not achieved anything yet, there’s long way for me to go. And I am grateful that I got to do such great movies. It’s been a wonderful journey so I hope it will be a very healthy and exciting journey.

Q.What prompted you to start The Tara Sharma show when other celebrities prefer to host reality shows?

Soon after my elder son was born I decided that I not only wanted to be a mom, but also work as I have a good educational background. As there are no honest shows about parenting and Maternal care, I thought it would be nice to do something on those lines. I am not into politics, neither am I a dancer to judge any dance shows and I am not an expert to give tips because I myself learn a lot every day.

Q.Do you think People from Showbiz with their busy schedule can be good parents?

Yes, of course! They are good parents everybody is a good parent I don't think we should judge anyone.

Q.How do you juggle professional and domestic responsibilities?

Being a mom I need to be near my children, so I mostly work from home and even right now I am sitting at home and talking to you giving an interview. My children will soon be home and I’ll get busy with them. I am very passionate about being a mother. It’s common knowledge that most mothers are multi-taskers. So yeah if I have any shoots I do my shoots and come back home.

Q.With appreciation coming from all quarters for bringing in Prince Manvendra Singh Govil on your show, Do you intend to focus more on LGBT community?

It’s really nice of him to come out and speak about the struggle he went through and obviously, it’s good that my show got a lot of appreciation. My shows are theme based like we had John Abhram speaking about health and fitness and also Soha Ali Khan about her transition, Soon Tushaar Kapoor will be talking about gender issues. So mostly all my shows have themes.

Q.What’s your take on the plight of LGBT community in India?

The society is more open about it which I think is good. It is good that people are talking about gender issues. A lot of awareness is also being spread which is nice.

Q.Any Plans to come back to the big screen?

Yes! Of course, I would love to do movies if I get any interesting scripts. But then again there are other areas where people are not really focused on and busy doing films. I am doing something more substantial now and it is also the honest show which is not seen these days. I haven’t worked so hard until now. Like I used to read the movie script and then go an act after that I would come back home. So I always say “if you are true to your profession eventually you will get the recognition.”

Q.You have a degree in management. Does it help you in your present profession?

Yes, It does help me as I graduated from LSE and I really do feel great that I have a very good Education background also I worked at Accenture and now I create, write and co-produce the show.

Q.If not an actor you would be?

Well I already Create, write and also co-produce the show apart from being an actor so yeah (laughs).

Q.It’s very important to have the support of your family particularly from your Spouse when you are in Showbiz. How has the journey been for you so far?

My family has been very supportive. My dad passed away 5 years ago. He was also a playwright and author who also won National award. He always told me not to wait for the phone to ring for an offer. “If you want to do something, then create it.” I am glad I did that and created my own show. I also shared my ideas of doing this show with my husband under whose company I co-produce the show with. It was him who encouraged me to do it and always been supportive.

Q.What next after Tara Sharma show?

The reason why I named it Tara Sharma show is because it will be a possibility for me to do anything with it. Right now the show is about Parenting and Maternal care. Who knows by next season I might get Hollywood Stars and global citizens to talk in my show. And by the time I am 80-85, my show will be Tara Sharma Grandmother diaries (laughs). You should always keep reinventing yourself and move forward. “I keep reinventing myself that I know.”
