The director of the web series "The 'Other' Love Story", Roopa Rao, wants to break the notion of homosexuality as a taboo subject. The series, which released on August 27, captures the romance and affection between two women.
Fashion and lifestyle social network Roposo has partnered with Just Like That (JLT) Films for the series. Along with JLT Films, the star cast of the weekly web series will also post stories on the website of Roposo to promote it among their followers.
This marks Roposo’s debut tie-up for a web series and the social network plans to promote the love story between two women through its wide reach and popularity through the country. Apart from enabling geo-targeted push notifications, Roposo will extensively promote this path-breaking property by adding JLT Films to its trendsetter card, and encourage its users to watch and further share the subversive narrative.
It is for the first time in India that a web series captures the romance and affection between two women. Set in the ’90s, The ‘Other’ Love Story will mark her independent direction after having co-directed a number of feature and short films.
The fashion social network has already emerged as a favourite platform for popular celebrities and upcoming actors to share their trend stories. Along with JLT Films, the star cast of this weekly web series will also post stories on Roposo to promote the series among their followers.
Commenting on this initiative, Mayank Bhangadia, Co-founder and CEO said, “We have collaborated with feature films before, but this is the first time that we are promoting a web series. This unique love story is a bold attempt by Roopa and she has captured the theme in a subtle, realistic and elegant way. We are certain that a strong narrative of this sort will appeal to the young user base of Roposo.”
Web-series director Roopa Rao said, “It is high time we broke the notion of homosexuality being a taboo subject in India. There is a dire need to understand that homosexual love is completely natural and beautiful. We believe that our association with Roposo will create the necessary light and awareness for the series, and attract a wider audience.”
