Looks like its raining biopics in Tollywood. The latest to join the bandwagon of directors making films on real-life personalities is veteran Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. Apparently, the ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’ helmer has been planning to make a biopic on Dr Yellapragada Subbarao the biochemist who discovered and developed methotrexate for cancer treatment for long. Singeetham was very much inspired by the life of the Bhimavaram-born and has decided to bring his life on-screen.

“I was thrilled and inspired by the life of Yellapragada Subbarao. At an early stage of his career, he left to the US (Harvard Medical School) and did extensive research on conducted various experiments in the field of biochemistry. Unfortunately, he passed away at a very young age. I’m currently working on the script and shall take it to the next level (casting) soon,” informs the director whose last effort was the damp squib ‘Welcome Obama’.
