The Telugu remake and dubbing rights of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal-starrer ‘Oppam’ have been acquired by Overseas Network Entertainment. Released three weeks ago, ‘Oppam,’ directed by Priyadarshan, has managed to collect more than Rs 27 crore gross till now and is going strong.

Impressed by the content, many Tollywood producers vied for the rights but Overseas Network Entertainment managed to clinch a deal, which gives it both dubbing and remake rights. It remains to be seen whether the firm will remake the film or dub it in Telugu.

‘Oppam’ follows the story of Jayaraman (played by Lal), a blind man who works as an elevator operator where he happens to witness a murder in a flat. The killer escapes and Jayaraman is charged with the crime based on the circumstantial evidences and is forced to discover the real killer to prove his innocence.
