Jasleen Royal caught the public attention in the first season of India's Got Talent in 2009. Subsequently, she won an award for the Best Indie Song at the MTV Video Music Awards. She eventually found her footing in Bollywood when she crooned the number ‘Preet’ from Sonam Kapoor-starrer ‘Khoobsurat’.

Jasleen recounts, “I started practicing keyboard during childhood and the curiosity grew over the years and eventually made me to make a career in music. I haven’t received any formal training but meeting people, interacting with them and discovering a lot of things, etc., helped me to foster my knowledge on music. After my first song 'Panchi Ho Javan', I released two singles and entered Bollywood as a play back singer in 2014 with ‘Khoobsurat’.”

The composer-playback singer states that working with various composers helped bring out a different side of her. She puts in, “I sung ‘Preet’ from ‘Khubsoorat’, ‘Badla Badla’ from ‘Badlapur’, ‘Nachde Ne Sare’ and ‘Kho Gaye’ from ‘Baar Baar Dekho’, etc. So each composer brings out a different side in you, with different ideas and renditions and that’s what makes me feel interesting. You’ll get to learn from everyone and the success of these numbers helped me to evolve.”

Jasleen is all kicked with the response she’s getting for her new track ‘Raatein’ from ‘Shivaay’, starring Ajay Devgn. “It is a soothing track, which portrays the bond between a father and daughter (Ajay Devgn and Abigail Eames). Ajay has been very supportive and gave me the liberty to improvise with the track. He briefed that the number ought to be high on melody whilst depicting how parenting is a wonderful experience. I’m happy with the response for the number,” shares the Independent singer and composer, who took up kick boxing as a leisure pursuit.
