Success might have eluded Mishti Chakaborty in Tollywood till now but she is least perturbed by it as she believes in doing her work right and leaving the rest to the audience. “Everybody wants their films to do well, right? I don’t think anyone wants his/her film to flop.
I’m not a person who plans too much. If I like something, I will do it straightaway. If the film has in it to do well, it will, else it won’t. There’s nothing much an actor can do. He/she can only choose the content believing it will do well,” Mishti, when asked whether her luck will change with ‘Hunterrr’ Telugu remake, points out.
In the film, which stars actor-filmmaker Srinivas Avasarala, she reprises the part that was essayed by Radhika Apte in the original. But she was sure from the beginning: not to emulate Radhika, who she admires very much. “I’ve approached the character in my own way.
I started enacting the part thinking it was fresh script altogether,” Mishti, who plays an independent working woman Radha in the film, a coming-of-age comedy, revolving around an unassuming sex addict and his lustful journey in life, insists.
The diminutive actress admits that working with a co-star (Avasarala) who is also a filmmaker came in handy. “When ‘Hunterrr’ remake rolled, his ‘Jo Achyutananda’ had just hit the screens. Although I couldn’t watch it, I happened to read the reviews online. It was a good experience teaming up with him as in between the takes, his knowledge of filmmaking helped me,” she reveals.
Into her fourth year in Tollywood, Mishti informs that her Telugu is improving. “I wouldn’t say I can converse fluently in Telugu but I can understand it better now. Over the months, I have picked it up and it’s only getting better. Also, I mouth my dialogues without any prompting. In fact, I didn’t get any prompting for my first Telugu film too,” she ends.
