Chaitanya, Rana to produce films jointly

Popular stars and cousins Rana Daggubati and Akkineni Naga Chaitanya are set to turn producers. A source says they have been thinking of joining hands since long and felt it’s the right time to come together given the infrastructure at their disposal.

“Rana was supposed to remake Marathi hit ‘Poster Boyz’ with Akshay Kumar in Telugu but as he had creative differences with the film’s director Gopi Ganesh, the film was called off. Chay always had a keen interest in production and even supervised the production of ‘Oka Laila Kosam’.

He is even monitoring the production activities of his current film with Kalyan Krishna, which his dad Nagarjuna is producing under Annapurna Studios. So it comes as no surprise for them to join forces for a film. They believe in encouraging new talent and the first film from them would be a thriller,” the source adds.

PVP Cinema on Tuesday released the first look of Rana from ‘Ghazi’. The look was released to coincide with the macho actor’s birthday on Wednesday. Directed by debutant Sankalp, the film is based on the true incidents of the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi, a Pakistan Submarine by destroyer INS Rajput (D141) during the India-Pakistani War of 1971. Rana is playing a naval officer in the film, which also features Kay Kay Menon, Atul Kulkarni and Taapsee Pannu.
