With Nandamuri Balakrishna set to collaborate with SV Krishna Reddy up next once he is through with the promotions of ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni,’ the fate of ‘Rythu’ with Krishna Vamsi was uncertain for some time. However, a source close to Krishna Vamsi has confirmed to us that the project, which addresses farmer’s grievances, is very much on, but would roll in the second half of 2017.

The source says, “Yes, it is true that Balayya wanted to have ‘Rythu’ muhurat held this month but as he couldn’t get megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s dates for the first half of 2017, he told Vamsi to postpone the film. Balayya believes in getting the right cast and it was evident when he told at the soundtrack launch of ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’ that they wouldn’t have made the period drama had Hema Malini didn’t agreed to play Gautami Balasri.

Big B’s role in ‘Rythu’ is central to the plot and though he agreed to do the film, he couldn’t adjust dates immediately as his diary was filled for the first half of 2017 with Hindi films. He told ‘Rythu’ makers that if they can wait, he will be doing the film. Balayya and Vamsi had no issues with that.”

“‘Rythu’ will move on to floors in the second half of 2017 by which time both Big B and Balayya would be free of their commitments. The former is likely to join the sets after the film’s first schedule,” adds the source.

When asked why Balayya chose SV Krishna Reddy, who hasn’t had much success for the past one decade, for his next, a source close to the actor said, “Balayya has never chased directors in his career. Any technician can approach him with a script. If he likes it, he would give them an opportunity. The same thing happened with Reddy too.”
