Keerthy Suresh to play Savithri in Mahanati

Keerthy Suresh, one of the most promising names from the current lot of actors that are taking the industry by a storm, has perhaps bagged the biggest film of her career. The ‘Nenu Sailaja’ star has been roped in to play Savithri in the biopic of the late legendary actress. Samantha will be seen in another important role.

The project has managed to get more than its share of media hype and trade curiosity ever since it was announced. After considering several names, the film’s director Nag Ashwin eventually handpicked Keerthy to take on the screen role as ‘Mahanati’. Apparently, the film has been titled so since everyone knows that Savithri has captured the imagination of the audience through her acting and dance skills.

“The film will be about the life of actress Savithri and her place in the industry. Though she had her share of ups and downs in life, the biopic will only depict the brighter side of the actress as she was known to be a humorous person,” informs a source. With massive set pieces, the Tamil-Telugu bilingual will be unlike anything explored in Tollywood.
