“My mobile has been ringing incessantly and the response has been overwhelming”, says director Krish, adding, “I was ably supported by great team who has been responsible for the project. Each and every member from the respective craft has chipped in.”
The historical drama was shot in a record time (79 days) and Krish puts it down to perfect planning. “We had multiple units simultaneously working and it made our task easier. For instance when we are shooting in Morocco, we had another unit monitoring the set work for our subsequent schedule. By the time we have wrapped up our Morocco schedule, the work for our schedule in Hyderabad was ready.”
Working experience with Balakrishna was truly memorable. “No one could have played the emperor of the Satavahana kingdom better than Balakrishna. I found that while I was writing the script and felt the same while shooting too. The energy levels and commitment he displayed while shooting was second to none. The project wouldn’t have happened in a record time without his support.”
So what does this success mean to Krish? “It means a lot. It proved my belief to make films purely based on the content and not to deviate for any other commercial reasons. It made be to make films with more conviction. The sole idea was about Telugu glory and we focused on narrating the story in the grandest manner possible yet stay rooted to out Telugu culture, language and history. Today, with the resounding success, I am glad that I stand vindicated.”
Shreya Saran has been appreciated for her luminous, smouldering presence as Vasistha Devi. “She looked majestic and has done a done a fantastic in the role of a hurt mother. Hema Malini too was a delight to watch on screen and was a perfect match. Sai Madhav Burra’s dialogues too has taken the film to another level. I thank for penning dialogues that match Balayya’s statue.”
