Mandy Moore to star in 'Darkest Minds'

Los Angeles: "This Is Us" star Mandy Moore has been roped in to play a key role in "Darkest Minds". The 32-year-old actress, the biggest name so far on the project, will essay the role of an altruistic doctor and fervent member of a crusade that wants to put a stop to the persecution of the children, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Jennifer Yuh Nelson will helm the Fox's adaptation of the YA trilogy by Alexandra Bracken. Set in an America where a pandemic has killed most of the children and teenagers, the story tells of teens with superpowers, who are taken from their families and placed inside internment camps. The sci-fi movie is set to begin shooting later this month in Atlanta.
