Los Angeles: "Fuller House" star John Stamos has penned an emotional post paying tribute to legendary comedian Don Rickles, who passed away on April 6. In a piece that appeared in The Hollywood Reporter, the 53-year-old actor says he was extremely close to the comic star and shared an "odd" friendship with him. "We talked on the phone a lot, like schoolgirls. It was a very odd friendship.

People were like, 'Huh?' But we didn't talk showbiz. It was more like family stuff. 'Are you finding a good woman like my wife?' That kind of thing. I was always careful with slinging words like 'second dad' around out of respect for his kids and family," wrote Stamos. The actor says Rickles always used to talk to him about his love relationships.

"He'd razz me about girls, dating, about being Greek, but there was always that moment or two in the middle — he always wanted to sit next to me — and he'd whisper, 'I love ya. I love ya, kid.'" Stamos says Rickles was like a "mischievous 7-year-old" and used to "as getting away with stuff", even after his wife Barbara used to scold him for eating cookies. Earlier, talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and radio personality Howard Stern also paid homage to Rickles.
