‘Capricio’, the first Telugu fusion band, is going viral on social networking sites for their peppy touch given to classic regional songs. They have created seamless transitions and tracks, which dip you in nostalgia and serenity.

The band comprises Kiran (vocals), Ganesh (vocals), Sai Teja (Percussions) and Shravan (keyboard). The team formed the band when they were students and now recently they have completed their graduation.
Speaking with The Hans India, Ganesh, one of the band members shared their journey.

“We wanted to try something new, which sets us apart from the regular stuff. I met Kiran in ‘Paduta Teeyaga’ contest and we thought that we should start a band together. Previously we used to be in different bands. It was Kiran’s idea to start our own band. Later we roped in Teja and Shravan.

We share a common interest -that is- we all are huge fans of Ilayaraaja and AR Rahman. We did many Telugu songs and posted them on Facebook and received a great response. And we were getting requests to recreate more songs,” Ganesh shared.

About christening, the band ‘Capricio’ Ganesh said, “Capricio is an Italian word and it means ‘Live form of music’.” Ganesh informed that most of the people in Hyderabad do not listen to a Telugu band. “We as a band need to become truly popular to grab the attention of Telugu audience.

We started the band in 2016, and till now we performed in more than 200 shows. We usually start with random singing. All our band members are trained in Carnatic music. We select the hit songs of various Telugu movies because they easily reach to the public.”

“We take suggestions and requests that we receive during our shows and work on them to improve ourselves in our next shows. A major part of our preparation is to make a songs list and try to do it in an innovative way. With our songs we don’t get a great recognition because we don’t do original compositions but we are planning to do our own compositions in near future,” Ganesh added.

Further, Ganesh said that Capricio blends music from Bollywood, Tollywood and a bit of English and country music and create a track, which is close to the style of today without harming the prime ingredients and purity of the originals.

“Our main aim is to make our band one of the best in regional music across the country. We want to reach to every music lover in India. We would like to become a band like the Indian Ocean,” Ganesh concluded. The band is going to perform in V-care fundraising event ‘Colors’ on June 17 at Shilpa Kalavedika.
