A clash among Gen X stars for the last two weeks, has been eargerly watched by the viewers as well as by trade pundits. After two weeks, hotshot Rana Daggupati emerged clear winner over his rivals Nithiin and Bellamkonda Srinivas by drawing more than Rs 30 crore (net collections) in AP, TS, while Bellamkonda Srinivas and Nithin netted below Rs 20 to 14 crore respectively in two Telugu states and ended up as big losers.

“Rana swept the audience off their feet with his impeccable performance as money-leader-turned politician and pulled off a very challenging role with elan. It also marks the return of seasoned director Teja,’ says a leading distributor. Followed by a much-hyped ‘Jaya Janaki Nayaka’ starring Bellamkonda Srinivas and Rakul Preet Singh but not-so-impressive storyline, marred the efforts of Srinivas who worked on his physique to fit into the role of an angry-young man.

“Boyapati should have spent more time on the script, than in designing action sequences, to connect with viewers,’ adds distributor Vishnumurthy. Despite going in for a complete make-over and looking handsome as a suave National Intelligence Officer, Nithiin should have been disappointed, since director Hanu failed to make a convincing and gripping entertainer. “Arjun’s baddy role got more applause than Nithiin, vindicating director’s failure,’ adds distributor Ramakrishna.
