The announcement was made on the show's official Twitter account. "In light of Hurricane Harvey and the devastation in Texas, the 'American Idol' bus will be cancelling the previously scheduled auditions in Houston on September 2 and San Antonio on September 4.

"The safety of the community is of the utmost importance and our thoughts go out to all of those affected," the statement read. The post further suggested that aspiring participants from Houston and San Antonio can turn up at upcoming auditions in Louisiana's Shreveport on September 4 and New Orleans on September 14.
