Rajamouli joins the league of Dev Anand, Lata and Big B

Ace filmmaker S S Rajamouli who is basking in the humungous success of ‘Bahubali’ franchise, considers it an honour to be chosen for the prestigious Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) award for 2017. It will be conferred on him in Hyderabad on September 17 at a glittering ceremony.

The ANR award recognises film artistes whose body of work has made a lasting impact of outstanding artistic, cultural and commercial significance to the field of cinema. “It’s an honour to receive the prestigious ANR award and privileged to be alongside the legends who received it before,” Rajamouli tweeted on Friday night.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will be present on the occasion at the Shilpa Kala Vedhika. The programmes at the awards function include music, entertainment and students who are passing out of the Annapurna International School of Film & Media will also get their degrees on the day of the award function. Nagarjuna expressed AISFM school has lived up to the expectations of ANR and it has become the finest destination for Film and Media education.

Earlier recipients of the coveted award include Dev Anand (2005), Shabana Azmi (2006), Anjali Devi (2007), Vyjayantimala Bali (2008), Lata Mangeshkar (2009), K. Balachander (2010), Hemamalini (2011) , Shyam Benegal (2012) and Amitabh Bachchan.
