Girish Karnad to be honoured

Veteran Indian actor and playwright Girish Karnad (69) who was seen in Telugu movies like ‘Ananda Bhairavi’ ‘Pranadaatha’ and ‘Premikudu’ has been conferred the ‘Tata Literature Live! Lifetime Achievement Award’ for the year 2017.

He has composed several award winning plays and films for over five decades.
The award will be presented to him at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai on November 19. The past recipients of the coveted award include legendary writers Amitav Ghosh in 2016, Kiran Nagarkar in 2015, MT Vasudevan Nair in 2014, Khushwant Singh in 2013, Sir VS Naipaul in 2012, and Mahashweta Devi in 2011.
