These young heroes once were hailed bankable stars by the industry with an assured business of Rs 3 to 8 crore per head a few years ago, but now they have hit a lean trot. Producers and distributors are reluctant to bet their money on them.
A bunch of young heroes like Sunil, Allari Naresh, Nara Rohit, Naga Shourya and Sundeep Kishan and others made waves for many years, before hitting a lean patch. Now pinning hopes on their upcoming releases to put their careers back on winning tracks
With new family heroes and new faces announcing their arrival, young actors like Allari Naresh, Sunil, Nara Rohit, Sundeep Kishan and Naga Shourya and others are determined to deliver a hit and change their sagging fortunes.
“If they had been members of any film family, they wouldn’t have been in such a dire situation,” says producer Paruchuri Prasad who feels that they should pick good stories to bounce back.
“Only good content can help them in this kind of situation, because regular producers and directors are reluctant to sign them. Their comedy and action image has been done-to-death, it’s time for them to re-invent themselves to hit bull’s eye,” he adds.
Already, industry bigwigs are murmuring that some of these actors to take up comedy or character roles to stay in the reckoning, instead of wasting time sitting idle at home for hero-roles.
“It is unfortunate that these 30-plus actors have a hit new low but they can return with a bang, if they find right project which would show them in a new light to connect them to new generation audience,” says producer Ramesh Puppala who admits that their careers have a hit a roadblock, but nothing alarming about it. “Hits and flops are part of any actor’s career. Just one blockbuster, can turn the tables in their favour, it’s a matter of time,” he points out.
Summing up the downtrend, director Samudra says “It is not the time for experimenting. These actors should play to their strength. If an actor is good in comedy, lover boy and action image, he needs to pick scripts accordingly, rather than moving out of their comfort zones. Going against the established image is not always a safe bet, that too in this precarious situation,” he concludes.
