Superstar Mahesh Babu, who adopted the village Burripalem, is now all set to raise Rs 1.5 crore for Telugu Movie Artistes Association in April next year.

The ‘Spyder’ star, who is busy shooting for ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ has agreed to spare a couple of days for the same. Actually, the Movie Artistes Association under the stewardship of actor Shivaji Raja has drawn up grand plans to provide support to ailing and aged actors.

To raise funds, the actors’ guild reportedly approached Non-Resident Indians in the USA to support their cause that would go a long way in providing shelter to many struggling veterans. “Many artistes, both men and women who ruled the roost once, didn’t save money for a rainy day as they blew up their earnings.

Looking at their plight, we thought of constructing an old age home to provide them a shelter and arrange for ayurvedic treatment for their ailments.

“A sprawling compound would be set up on the outskirts of Hyderabad city”, says a source close to the actors’ union. ‘We have requested Mahesh Babu to extend a helping hand and he agreed to raise funds for us in the USA in April, a great gesture from the reigning star,” the source concludes.
