Film director Ram Gopal Varma, who is facing controversy over his latest movie ‘God, Sex and Truth,’ failed to appear before the Central Crime Station (CCS) in city. The director was asked to appear for a case of alleged abuse of women activists at the time of his movie’s release recently.  

Hyderabad: Film director Ram Gopal Varma, who is facing controversy over his latest movie ‘God, Sex and Truth,’ failed to appear before the Central Crime Station (CCS) in city. The director was asked to appear for a case of alleged abuse of women activists at the time of his movie’s release recently.

As part of investigation, he was summoned by the CCS, however on his behalf his lawyer appeared, as he was out of town. The lawyer informed that the director may appear within a week, if his presence was mandatory.

It may be mentioned here that on January 25, the police charged him for insulting the modesty of a woman. A case under section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 was lodged against him for 'publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form'. The filmmaker was also booked under sections 506 and 509 of Indian Penal Code for allegedly making personal comments against the activists and others opposing the movie.
