A condolence meeting for late actress Sridevi is organised on Sunday by film producer and politician T. Subbarami Reddy. The meet took place at Park Hyatt Hotel on Sunday evening in memory of the actor, who featured in two of Reddy’s co-productions Chandni and Lamhe, a statement said.
Filmmakers and actors like Chiranjeevi, Mohan Babu, Nagarjuna, Amala, Jayaprada, K. Raghavendra Rao, Ram Gopal Varma, Suresh Babu, Allu Aravind, Pinky Reddy, P Susheela, Jagapati Babu, Jayasudha, C Kalyan, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Naresh marked their attendance.
Actress Jayapradha and late, actress Sridevi are known as professional rivals, who never spoke to each other due to intense rivalry, but always acted with each other, without fail.
She spoke great words about her too, "Sridevi is one of the rarest talents of Indian Cinema. When we both were the hot favourites, we always had a healthy respect and competition with each other. Never did we try to demean each other. She is a cordial person. For me becoming an actress was the dream. For actresses today, becoming Sridevi is the dream. I don't have to say much more than that to say how iconic she was and is. I spoke to Boney Kapoor last night, before starting to Hyderabad and he asked me to thank everyone for organising such a loving memory of an event for his Sridevi," said Jayapradha.
Jayasudha another top actress from Sridevi's time too talked about her very fondly. She said, "I saw her for the first time, with my aunty, Vijayanirmala. I did not become an actress by then and she was already a child Superstar by the time. So, other than my uncle, Krishna garu and Aunty, Vijayanirmala, dhe is the first star I saw from the Industry. I couldn't believe that she left us on the day when my phone was constantly buzzing and even today, I am unable to bear the shock. I saw her last image only once and she looked very peaceful even on death bed."
Legendary singer P. Susheela specially came for the meet and she said, "I sang for her in many movies and I loved the way she acted in the songs. She is an angel and she went away like an angel too."
Krishnam Raju, popular Telugu actor, spoke about her and said, "I did not get chance to act with in many movies. But she always called me Sir, and showed immense respect. When we produced an Hindi remake of my film, Bobbili Brahmanna, she co-operated like noone ever and I am deeply saddened by her demise today."
Allu Aravind, producer, shared a memory of her. He said, "I met her during Jagadeekaveerudu Athiloka Sundari shooting for the first time when she is acting with Chiranjeevi garu. I thought she is really an angel. Her husband Boney is my friend and when we visited his home, she cordially welcomed us and gave me tea. I wanted to stand-up and take tea from her hands. In the car, I told to my friend, Ashwini Dutt, who was with me, that I couldn't accept her as an house-wife and told him, I wept inside. I read RGV's letter the other day and I understood what a soft heart he had and his words about Sridevi are so true. I hope Boney and her children, who were cast away by their extended family, will be accepted and given all the strength needed."
Also, Ali, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Rajasekhar, Jeevitha, Jagapathi Babu, Amala Akkineni, Sumanth Yarlagadda, Nivetha Thomas, Babu Mohan, Paruchuri GopalaKrishna and many others talked at the meet and expressed, loss of Sridevi for Indian Cinema as irrevocable. We do agree with their sentiments and hope her family, finds the strength to prevail without her and fulfill all her wishes.
