Around 8 to 10 young heroes who were once hailed as bankable stars by the filmmakers with an assured business of Rs 3 to 8 crore per head, have hit a lean trot and now on a comeback trail of sorts.
A bunch of young heroes like Sunil, Allari Naresh, Nara Rohit, Sumanth, Sundeep Kishan and others made waves for many years, before hitting a lean patch. Now, they are pinning hopes on their upcoming releases to put their careers back on tracks. For instance, comedy hero Allari Naresh has delivered hits like ‘Seematapakai’ and ‘Sudigadu,’ before losing his way.
Apparently, he is pinning hopes on his 55th film launched recently. “Allari Naresh is a very talented but luck has been eluding him for quite some time. His comic timing is top-notch and he is also good in emotional scenes. Gradually, he is evolving as a complete actor. Our script has enough potential and no doubt, Allari Naresh will return with a bang,” says producer Anil Sunkara.
Similarly, Nara Rohit who tasted success with hits like ‘Solo’ and ‘Prathinidhi,’ also hit a lean patch with flops like ‘Balakrishnudu,’ Kathalo Rajakumari’ and others. “Nara Rohit is game for variety.
He was impressed with the tale of a youngster who can’t speak and took it up as a challenge in our next film,” says director P B Manjunath. Giving a new twist to the this downtrend, producer Paruchuri Prasad says “If they had been members of any film family, they wouldn’t have been in such a dire situation.
Nonetheless, they should pick good stories to bounce back or else it will be difficult,” and shares a tip for their comeback “These actors should try out something different since they were repeating themselves in comedy and action roles. In fact, it’s high time for them to re-invent themselves to turn crowd-pullers once again ,” he adds.
Already, industry bigwigs are murmuring that some of these actors accepting comedy or character roles to stay in the reckoning, instead of wasting time sitting idle at home for hero-roles. “It is unfortunate that these 30-plus aged actors are going through tough times. Of course, hits s and flops are part of any actor’s career. Just one blockbuster can turn the tables in their favour,” says director Samudra hopefully.
