Tamil star Arjun scored his maiden hit ‘Abhimanyudu’ as a villain and has reportedly hiked his pay. Actually, Arjun made his debut as a baddy with the Telugu film ‘Lie’ opposite Nithiin, but the film bombed at the box office, scuttling his chances of essaying negative roles. However, the big success of ‘Abhimanyudu’ has given him a new lease of life for taking up negative roles.
“The Tamil star is now demanding Rs 1.25 crore to don a negative role and we are holding discussions. Although his remuneration is very high, we don’t mind paying it, if he allots more days,” says a top producer, who approached Arjun for his upcoming film.
No doubt, Arjun’s menacing act in `Abhimanyudu’ stands out as he matched acting strides with Vishal in this cyber-crime thriller. “Arjun has proved that he can do justice to both positive and negative roles and soon, he will become busy playing a baddy,” adds the producer.
Actually, popular Tamil star Arjun, who is equally popular in T-town with hits like `Maa Pallelo Gopaludu’ and ‘Hanuman Junction,’ achieved a milestone of 150 Tamil, Kannada and Telugu films in his 3-decade-old career. Apart from straight Telugu films, his popularity among the Telugu viewers soared with blockbusters like `Gentleman’ and `Okke Okkadu’, thus, making him a household name in the two Telugu states.
