Close on the heels of agreeing to play the role of Basavaramatharakam opposite Balakrishna in ‘N.T.R,’, the national award winning B-town actress Vidya Balan is all set to reprise the role of actress-turned-politician J Jayalalithaa in the latter’s biopic being planned by producer Vishnu Indurri, who is incidentally, one of the producers of `N.T.R.
Close on the heels of agreeing to play the role of Basavaramatharakam opposite Balakrishna in ‘N.T.R,’, the national award winning B-town actress Vidya Balan is all set to reprise the role of actress-turned-politician J Jayalalithaa in the latter’s biopic being planned by producer Vishnu Indurri, who is incidentally, one of the producers of `N.T.R.
“It will be an authentic biopic of the legendary actress turned politician and the proposed biopic will showcase the rise of the reluctant actress who became a politician and her friendship with legendary MGR,” says a source from Chennai. Vishnu who prepared the script for ‘NTR’ biopic taking two years and convinced the Nandamuri star to play the lead and then roped in other technicians and the film is slated to be on the sets from July.
“The producer is readying the script on the iconic Tamil political leader who became the uncrowned queen on the political firmament of Tamil Nadu for more than two decades. Moreover, she also became the most-popular and people-friendly Chief Minister with her welfare measures,” the source adds.
Similar to the NTR biopic, the tale of Jayalalithaa will also cover her roaring film career as well as political achievements. She shared screen space with biggies like MGR and Shivaji Ganesan to become a superstar and rose in the ranks of the AIADMK-from a propaganda secretary to the party president’s post” the source concludes. No doubt, Vidya Balan is the right choice to play the role of the multi-faceted personality.
