If everything goes right, reigning star Varun Tej, who is basking in the massive success of ‘Tholi Prema’, will be doing the remake of the Malayalam blockbuster ‘Orayiram Kannakal’, which is about an NRI, who returns to his family and gets stuck in a tangle of problems. “We are planning to show the Malayalam film which was a blockbuster and also earned critical acclaim to Varun Tej,” says a source from Chennai.
Actually, Tamil and Telugu composer Thaman suggested the name of Varun to the Malayalam producers, who were planning to make it in Tamil and Telugu languages. Thaman reportedly told the producers that Varun, who is the most-happening star in T-town, would also like to make his debut in Tamil with this path-breaking entertainer which is a right mix of family drama, love and crime in good measure.
“Thaman-Varun are very close friends since they worked together in ‘Tholi Prema’ and share a great rapport. They would be screening the film to Varun sooner than later,” the source concludes. No doubt, the hard-hitting Malayalam films are sought-after by Telugu stars. After Venkatesh tasted big success with ‘Drushyam’, Varun would follow suit with a gripping thriller, but nothing is finalised yet, the source concludes.
