Former minister, TDP senior leader and film actor Nandamuri Harikrishna is no more. He died in a tragic road mishap while on his way to Nellore. He was 61.

Harikrishna had a distinct style of his own. He entered the films as a child artiste and then became a producer. In his second innings, he acted as a hero and a character artise. In fact, he had won Nandi award for the Best character artiste. He lived like Seethaiah, the role he played in the namesake film. Seethaiah Yevari Mata Vinadu (Seetaiah never listens to anyone) is the most famous dialogue of the film.

Harikrishna entered the film world as a child artiste with 1964 vintage Sri Krishnavataram, where he played the child Krishna. He also worked in NTR’s hit film ‘Talla Pellama.’ He had also worked with his famous brother Balakrishna in Tatamma Kala and Ram Rahim, which were released in 1977. He played Arjuna in Danaveera Sura Karna of 1977 vintage. In all these films, he worked with his father NTR. He then took a break from films. When NTR launched, Telugu Desam, Harikrishna became his charioteer.

Post-NTR’s death, Harikrishna re-entered films. After a gap of 20 years, he worked in Mohan Babu-starrer Sri Ramulaiah. He played the role of Comrade Satyam. Later, he played key roles in Lahiri Lahiri Lahiri Lo and Seetaramaraju. He had won Nandi award as the best character artiste for Lahiri Lahiri Lahiri Lo. He played the protagonist in 2003 film Seetaiah and Tiger Harishchandra Prasad. Later, he also worked in Swami and Sravana Masam.

Harikrishna is survived by three sons. His eldest son Janakiram died four years ago in a road accident. His son Kalyan Ram is an actor and producer and Jr NTR is one of the topmost heroes of the Telugu Industry.
