Samantha in a mythological role?

It seems that glam diva Samantha is in no mood to give up on experimenting with different roles. After playing a ghost in ‘Raju Gari Gadhi 2’ and a scribe in ‘U Turn’, the wife of Naga Chaitanya is all set to don a mythological role of ‘Soorpanaka’, the sister of Ravana, in a big budget socio-fantasy film to be directed by Bhargav, a national award winning animation filmmaker. “Samantha has evinced keen interest in the mythological role because she was impressed with the storyline, but she hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet,” says a source, close to the unit.

Actually, director Bhargav approached Kajal for the same multi-layered role but she couldn’t spare dates for the same. Eventually, director Bhargav moved on and narrated his well-etched storyline to Samantha who has agreed to don the role ‘in-principle’, the source adds. Briefly, it is the tale of a demon princess who falls in love with Lord Rama during his stay in Panchavati forests for his good looks and valour. However, Rama rejects her advances, telling her that he was faithful to his wife Sita and thus would never take another woman as his wife. “Soorpanaka was a valiant princess and has a story of her own. We needed a top actress to fit into the larger-than-life role and Samantha aptly fits the bill,” the source concludes.
