The talented actor Vikrant Massey just confirmed the film on his Twitter profile and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity. He tweeted, “Honoured to be part of #Chhapaak! Post marriage to Ranveer Singh, actress Deepika is all set to face the camera. Her next is a film based on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal that will be directed by Meghna Gulzar of Raazi fame. The actress will also co-produce the film.

Meghna divulged that the film will be shot in Mumbai and Delhi and that prosthetics tests were underway.
