Actress Shagufta Ali blames Kader Khan's passing away on his moving away to Canada. She says, since he was out of sight, he was out of our minds too, we had forgotten him.
Shagufta Ali interacted with media after the news of Kader Khan's passing away broke out. The late veteran actor, dialogue writer, and comedian died after a prolonged illness at a hospital in Toronto in Canada on Tuesday.
As a close family friend, Shagufta said his loss has been heartbreaking. "His passing away is a very big loss for the industry. He used to be my father's friend and we have known him since so many years. In any way, it is a big loss for us, as an actor, writer and as a beautiful human being. I have had the chance to work with him on TV shows and also in films, I have many fun filled memories together with him, over time we had gotten very close. It was a family-like bond.
What feels bad the most is that he wasn't with us here in Mumbai when he passed away. I do blame the distance, he was doing well while he was here, but once he moved away from Mumbai its like, we all forgot him. Since he was out of sight, he was out of our minds too."
Kader Khan has been one of the most iconic actors and comedians, the Indian film industry has ever seen. He has been the most celebrated actor in the 90's with hits like “Raju Babu”, “Coolie No.1”, “Aankhen”, “Bade Miyan, Chhote Miyan” and more.
When asked if the industry failed to give him the due credit he deserved, Ali said, "I don't think its just Bollywood, the times have turned. As kids, we used to keep in touch, show respect, now all of that is gone. With convenience and technology, we have forgotten how to maintain relationships, so we can't just blame the industry.
But I do think he has left us with alot and the new generation will always remember him. His name will be written in golden words for all that he had done."
Shagufta Ali acted alongside Kader Khan in several Television shows and movies including, 1989's Kanoon Apna Apna, 1991's Indrajeet, 1997's Hero No. 1 and many more.
