Actress Kangana Ranaut has reacted on Rani Mukherjis statement on MeToo movement by saying that people who need support shouldnt be discouraged in the society

Actress Kangana Ranaut has reacted on Rani Mukherji’s statement on #MeToo movement by saying that people who need support shouldn’t be discouraged in the society.

Kangana Ranaut was interacting with media at the Mumbai airport on Wednesday in Mumbai.

Recently, at a news channel’s actresses’ round table conference, actress Rani Mukerji made a statement about Me Too and got trolled heavily on social media.

Rani Mukerji shared her views on #MeToo and said, “I think as a woman you have to be that powerful within yourself, you have to believe that you're so powerful that if you ever come into a situation like that you have the courage to say 'back off.' I think you have to have the courage to be able to protect yourself,” adding, “you have to take responsibility for your own self."

After Rani’s opinion, Kangana Ranaut was also asked about what she thought of Rani’s stance on #MeToo , to which the actress said, “People who need support, who need to be empowered, we must empower but agar Rani Laxmi Bai jaise ladkiyan agar humari society humein de sakti hai toh why not, unko discourage nahi karna chahiye. If they are strong women, we should not discourage women. I was 16-years-old when I filed my first FIR against sexual assault so there are people who can stand up for themselves, they shouldn’t be discouraged.”

Kangana was asked about children who are not empowered and she said, “Empowerment who need, they should be empowered but not necessarily everyone needs. Some people can give empowerment also. Some people are givers, the ones who can should be encouraged to give strength, people who are working with NGOs.”

Kangana Ranaut next will be seen playing titular role in ‘Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi’.

It also stars Atul Kulkarni, Ankita Lokhande, Mishti, Jisshu Sengupta, Suresh Oberoi, Danny Denzongpa and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in pivotal roles.

It is directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi and Kangana Ranaut. The film is produced by Zee Studios in association with Kamal Jain and Nishant Pitti.

The film is scheduled to be released on 25 January 2019.
