Vidya Balan plays a doting wife

According to the makers of the biopic, ‘NTR’, the female lead Vidya Balan looks exactly like NTR’s wife Basavaramatarakam in the movie. In the film, they have asserted that she would not be portrayed merely as an ordinary housewife, but as one of NTR’s closest companions in both his political and personal lives. NTR married Basavaramatarakam, his uncle’s daughter, when he was just 20 years old. The couple had 12 children and she succumbed to cancer in the year 1984. Not much information on her life is available in the public domain.

She was supposedly a very private person despite the fact that she was married to a ‘demi-god’. In her memory, NTR established the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad in 1986. Nonetheless, the national award-winning actress, Vidya Balan, has breathed life into another real-life role and did justice to her image and talent. “Vidya was the first choice to play NTR’s wife from the beginning and she also okayed the role after listening to the script and found equal importance to her role along with Balakrishna, who is playing the legendary NTR,” the makers added.
