Bollywood actor and producer Farhan Akhtar say depending on the response, they will see about taking Gully Boy to Oscars.

Farhan Akhtar celebrated his Birthday at the Trailer Launch of Gully Boy, along with Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Zoya Akhtar, and Ritesh Sidhwani. The singer and actor also cut a cake and hinted that once the movie releases then they will see about Oscars.

The movie Gully Boy will have its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival.

When asked about taking the film to Oscars, Farhan quipped, “We are getting ahead of ourselves here, first the music will release on 24th January then the movie will release on 14th February, and how the audience reacts to the movie, then we will see. And Oscars is such a thing where there is a committee who decides, we can only hope. Right now we’re hoping that people just love the film”

Talking about his plans for 2019, Farhan said, “I have got “The Sky Is Pink” which is releasing in 2019, directed by Shonali Bose and there will be a very special announcement, but this is not the time and the platform to make it on, but you’ll hear about it very soon, I hope it excites you all”

It is been reported that Farhan Akhtar is all set to announce Don 3, starring Shahrukh Khan in the lead.

Farhan Akhtar also shared his reasons for producing Gully Boy, which is based on rappers in Mumbai. He said, “Music plays an integral role in my life, I am sure not just in my life, it plays an important role in everyone’s life and when you get a story with which music is so organically attached, and you enjoy working on such film”

Gully Boy is written and directed by Zoya Akhtar. It stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and is based on the life of Divine and Naezy (Naved Shaikh), underground rappers from Mumbai.

The film releases on 14th Feb 2019.
