Happy that audience has appreciated my work in ‘Thackeray’: Amrita Rao
Actress Amrita Rao, who is enjoying the success of her recently released film Thackeray, has said that she is happy that audience has appreciated her performance in a politicaldrama film
Actress Amrita Rao, who is enjoying the success of her recently released film ‘Thackeray’, has said that she is happy that audience has appreciated her performance in a political-drama film.
Amrtia Rao was interacting with the media at Big FM radio station on Wednesday in Mumbai.
‘Thackeray’ has collected around 13.05 crores at the box-office since its release and Amrita Rao who played character of Meenatai Thackeray, wife of Bal Thackeray in the film is garnering positive reviews for her performance in the film.
Talking about audience response to her character and the film, Amrita said, “Actually from the beginning, I knew that ‘Thackeray’ will be based on Balasaheb Thackeray’s political journey and not as much about the personal life of Meenatai Thackeray and Balasaheb. Makers of the film Sanjay Raut and Abhijit Panse told me in the beginning of the shooting of the film that she was pillar of strength of Balasaheb Thackeray.”
Amrita said that she is really happy that audience has positively reacted to her performance in the film, she said, “When Balasaheb Thackeray started his political journey in Maharashtra that time, she was the one who looked after their house and the entire family so, it was really nice opportunity for me to play character of a woman who doesn’t used to appear in front of media but I feel her presence has been justified in the film. I am feeling really happy that my work has been appreciated by audience.”
Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Amrita Rao starrer ‘Thackeray’ clashed with Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi’ on Repulic day weekend but both film are doing really well business at the box-office, talking about it, Amrita said, “There is lot of hard work that goes behind making of every film. It’s not only about the faces that you see in the front so, I am really happy that both the films are doing equally well. Both the film was about strong leaders who fought for their conviction. They (Bal Thackeray and Rani Laxmibai) sacrificed their entire life for the people of this country so, I am glad that both the film are doing good business at the box-office.”
There has been a lot of debate over 'nepotism' from the last few years. Few days ago, during promotions of ‘Thackeray’, Amrita Rao talked about it and revealed how she was once replaced by an actress, who was a star-kid and it all happened in a very undignified manner.
When asked her take on nepotism in the film industry, she said, “I think talent is something which is very important to survive in the industry. Of course, there could be some opportunities that you can miss out on but I feel the way star kids promote themselves or they network themselves is at another level. You can’t compare them with people who want to enter in the industry with no connections and it is actually a normal thing. It’s not their fault. I think the way I looked at it that they are destined with that silver spoon and industry outsiders have to work harder for the opportunities to come their way but eventually, it all boils down to talent of an individual.”
‘Thackeray’ starred Amrita Rao and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles. It is produced by Sanjay Raut and directed by Abhijit Panse.
