Dharma Production begins unveiling the Kalank World

Karan Johar has begun sharing glimpses from his upcoming period drama Kalank starring Alia and Varun in lead roles.

After releasing a picturesque look of their 1940s look and world, Karan also released posters of the male lead characters in the film with the hashtag, #MenOfKalank.

Varun character titled Zafar was introduced as the gem of the film. Karan tweeted, " He flirts with life and danger! " The actor himself even changed his twitter account name to Varun Zafar Dhawan and can be seen in intense look, having smudged kohl eyes, pierced ears and long tresses.

Apart from Varun Kalank also stars, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt.

Later the cast also introduced Aditya's character as the, " He defines the nobility of his era! Here’s Dev! " The picture shows his surroundings burning as he stands still. While Sanjay Dutt was called as the King, Alia tweeted, "If #Kalank was a kingdom, he would be king! Presenting Balraj! #MenOfKalank #Kalank"

Earlier, Karan posted an emotional post about the film saying "Kalank" was very close to his heart as it was the last film on which his father, the late Yash Johar, worked on. "A film that was born in my heart and mind 15 years ago... A film I passionately believe in... the last film my father worked on before he left us. It was his dream to see this film come through.

"I couldn't fulfil his dream then, my spirit was broken, but today his wish has found a relationship with celluloid. The story of turbulent relationships and eternal love has found a voice... Set in the 1940s, but its heart lives on. I am excited, anxious and emotional about this one."

Directed by Abhishekh Varman, "Kalank" also features Alia Bhatt, and Madhuri Dixit Nene. It is scheduled to release on April 19.
