Zoya Akhtar, when revealed why she chose to work with more directors on the same show, said, it made sense to divide the work as opposed to not delivering good content

The filmmaker gearing up for the launch of Made in Heaven on Amazon Originals on Thursday interacted with media alongside, other directors of the show Nitya Mehra, Alankrita Shrivastava and Prashant Nair.

When asked what was the reason behind not directing the entire show herself, Zoya said, "We needed more than one director, in any case, Rima and I created this show. Alankrita as the writer and Nitya Showrunner and director were the first two to join us. And we always knew that between us we will direct at least 2 episodes each."

The Gully Boy director said their aim was to present each episode with the same commitment as other, "The thing is when you have a show of this scale it makes sense to make multiple directors because you want to do each episode as well as the other. Each episode the backdrop, the wedding the family bride and grom everything changes. So each episode has casting, location, costume, design more and you want each one to have the same kind of focus. It needs its own identity and for that, you need that much time."

"So it just made sense to divide the work as opposed to having one person stretch it and not deliver." Zoya added.

Created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. The show episodes have been directed by Zoya, Nitya Mehra, Alankrita Shrivastava and Prashant Nair. Made in Heaven stars Shobhita Dhulipala, Arjun Mathur, Jim Sarbh, Kalki Koechlin, Shashank Arora and Shivani Raghuvansh among others.

Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment, the Amazon Prime Video Original is all set to release on 8th March 2019.
