Guntur: Integrationists from all parts of the district turned up in large numbers for ‘Mande Gundela Ghosha’ protest rally organised opposing State division on Tuesday. Employees, teachers, workers, farmers and students braved rain to make the programme a success. Visalandhra Mahasabha president Parakala Prabhakar was the chief guest. He said the silence of intellectuals on State division would cause irreparable damage to Telugu race. Student JAC leader Acharya Narasimha Rao and others spoke. Meanwhile private and corporate hospitals, medical shops and laboratories observed a bandh in Mangalagiri.
Rally in Nandigama
Nandigama (Krishna): NGOs took out a huge rally here. Traffic came to a standstill as protesters blocked the main road and highway. They prevented private buses from moving on the roads and demanded the operators to join the Samaikyandhra stir.
Activity hectic in Nuzivid
Nuzivid (Krishna): Doctors and other medical staff under the aegis of IMA boycotted duties and organised a health camp on the road as a mark of protest against the division.
A massive rally of poclains, cranes and earth digging machines was taken out. The protesters burnt effigies of KCR, Sonia and Digvijay Singh. Children carried the national flags in a procession wishing unity of Telugu people.
Girls dressed in Telugu Talli attracted the attention.
Pvt hospitals observe bandh
Chirala (Prakasam): Private hospitals and pharmacies observed a bandh. The agitators garlanded statue of ‘Amarajeevi’ Potti Sriramulu and held a rally in the town. A human chain was formed at Clock Tower centre.
