Nizamabad: Fun, frolic and loads of laughter was seen at the get together of Dwivedi Sankaram and Vitha Bai family when 270 members of the family converged at Baswa Gardens here on Monday to share the fun and happiness. The family of Dwivedi Sankaram and Vitha Bai, displaced in 1975 from their village Kustapuram in Nandipet mandal of the district due Sri Ram Sagar Project, grew in leaps and bounds.
Now, their children and grand children, comprising 100 families are settled in Sitaramapuram of the city and the rest in overseas and elsewhere in the country. Under the banner ‘Manavallu- Mana Aanavallu’, family members settled down in various parts of the globe gathered at one place and exchanged greetings and pleasantries. They embraced each other and dined together.
They vowed to inspire the future generations and resolved to hold such family functions regularly. Family elders Dattu Sastry, Dr Sivaprasad Sastry, Santosha Sarma and Diwakar came forward to carry on the family traditions. The big and small had a gala time. According to Chandravati, Sankaram’s only surviving daughter, she had eight siblings, including two brothers.
She felt very happy being part of the get-together and opined that family members should never forget the bonds that run in the family. “If the family members remain united, they will be able to face hurdles without worry. People should exercise patience and resolve their problems with love, instead of breaking relationships on trivial issues,” she suggested.
