Rakhi flowers are also known as Pandava-Kaurava flowers. The flower is of the size of a palm and looks like a rakhi and hence derived the name. It is also called as Passiflora or passion flowers or passion vines. It features five thick lines in the central part of the flower and has corona filaments all around the flower making it more attractive.

It is a creeper and can be grown in front or backyard of homes, on the terrace and in the portico. The creeper flowers in two years of planting it. Homoeopathic medicine used to control high blood pressure and to induce sleep is produced from the plant. Further, the medicine prepared from the plant is used as a good muscle relaxant. There are at least 12 species of the plant varieties that are sold in nurseries in Kadiam of East Godavari district. Each plant is priced between Rs 50 and Rs 100.

The flowers look like rachis and hence given as gifts during this festival. The blooming period of the flower is between June and October. The creeper can also be grown in flower pots. Passiflora are mostly tendril-climbing shrubs, with simple or palmately-lobed, generally evergreen, leaves and attractive flowers of distinctive structure with often colourful coronal filaments.

Easter lily
The Easter lily is a beautiful flower. Especially, its thin stem is very attractive. A full-grown plant bears four flowers in all four directions. The plant grows up to a height of one-and-half feet. It belongs to the species of Lily. Plants that yield pink, white and red coloured-flowers are sold in nurseries. They are grown in pots and soil as well. In Kadiam nursery each plant is sold for Rs 100. The season for the blooming of the flowers is March-December period. The flowers are a special attraction during the Easter festival.

Heliconia flowers
The Heliconia flower is used mostly for decorative and aesthetics purpose. There are many species of Heliconia flowers. The growth of heliconia flowers is similar to banana plants. Some of the flowers look similar to banana flowers in various hues, including the pink. The life span of each flower will be about one month. The other colours are yellow, red, light green etc.

These flowers are used for decorative purposes in flower vases and as indoor plants. Normally, each plant grows up to a height of three feet. The flowers grow well under shade, semi-shade and outdoor areas. The flowers are in full bloom during winter. They can be grown in flower pots as well as soil. Each plant sells at between Rs 500 and Rs 1000.
