Tirupati: Devlok,a major attraction planned in Andhra Pradesh to promote religious tourism, is finally on track to become a reality after more than two years of uncertainty. The project, finalised by the Andhra Pradesh government in 2015, had encountered technical and financial hurdles, but is currently picking up momentum to see the light of the day.
- Five major focal religious themes
- Entertainment and other attractions
- 38 acres near SV Zoo Park
- 335-cr investments over the next 3 yrs
Devlok is the world’s first spiritual edutainment theme park envisaged at the foot of Lord Venkateswara. It is designed to be a unique park, showcasing thousands of years of Indian culture, heritage and values. At Devlok, one can conduct religious rituals, marriages and other holy activities. Recently, Devlok promoters commenced work on the religious tourism hub coming up on 38.5 acres at the temple city, near the SV Zoological Park.
The AP State Tourism Department has been allotted much of the site for developing inter alia108 divyakshethrams, one five-star hotel as well as a convention center for marriages and other rituals. Devlok involves investments totalling over Rs. 335 crore. As first impressions count, the main entrance of Devlok would be patterned after the one that ushers people into the Lord Venkateshwara Temple with indescribable awe.
The idea is to make everyone feel the same sanctity while passing through it. Beautiful waterfalls and fountains have been planned to welcome tourists into Devlok. As one goes through the vertical gardens of the project, one can view splendid images of Lord Balaji amidst the fountains. Even in scorching summer, one can expect a cool atmosphere in its environs.
The Himagiri Snow Park would give the feeling of an ice-age atmosphere of Hindu mythology. The first-ever ice replicasof the sacred shrines comprising the Char Dhamare also being developed in Devlok.
A 5-star hotel, where tourists can unwind with divine sublimity, is to be named ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’and would mirror temple gopuram structure. Everything inside would glisten with pristine purity. Once completed, guests cannot help gushing about the indulgently lavish decor and innovative artistic design, say designers connected with the project.
Elegant standards, deluxe rooms and suites, each with its own individual style and charm, offers optimum mix of comfort and technology. A senior official of the Tourism Department said that it would be useful particularly for pilgrims who want to complement Srivaridarshan in Tirumala. For, there can be rewarding time amid the religious theme parks.
The add-on is that itwould create a lot of employment opportunities for the benefit of local jobless youth. The first phase of the Devlok project would be ready for tourists by the end of 2018, the official said.
