New Delhi: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by a man she knew and his two friends in a moving car near an upscale south Delhi area on Tuesday night, the police have said. One of the accused has reportedly been arrested. The police say they all lived near the girl's home.

The girl, a student of a private school in south Delhi, was reportedly invited for a drive by a 22 -year-old man she said knew through a friend. "According to the girl's statement, the boys, who are between 20-22 years of age, offered her some drink laced with sedatives. Then they drove to an isolated parking lot and took turns to rape her in the car," a police officer said.
The men later left her near her house and drove off. The traumatized girl told her parents on Wednesday, after which the family went to the police.
Last month, four men were given the death sentence for gang-raping a medical student on a moving bus in Delhi in December, a case which saw India gripped by anger and grief. Six men were arrested for the attack; one, who was under 18 at the time, was given the maximum sentence of three years in a reform home by a juvenile court. Another, Ram Singh, committed suicide in his prison cell in March during his trial.
